Recently, ChickTech OC hosted their first LinkedIn career workshop. LinkedIn has become an impactful resource to many professionals who are seeking jobs and seeking applicants. Though widely available, LinkedIn is not the most intuitive platform to use. To help bridge the gap between users and the platform, ChickTech OC hosted a workshop aimed toward improving attendee’s profiles in order to attract recruiters.
For the event, the ChickTech OC Leadership Team partnered with a former executive from UnitedHealth Group to host the workshop. The speaker went over creating a solid profile that will stand out to recruiters, building and expanding network connections, joining and participating actively in professional groups, searching for jobs and setting alerts for new positions, and soliciting recommendations and endorsements from connections. By the end of the intimate workshop, members were able to walk away with a new profile to begin their job search. Additionally, our speaker provided insight into how LinkedIn is used by recruiters to identify and hire the right candidates.
Career Workshops are an ongoing effort for ChickTech OC. As a chapter, we are dedicated to serving and helping the women in our community grow to achieve their professional goals. Our career workshops range from intrapersonal skills, such as “Networking for Introverts” to implementable skills such as “Building an Online Portfolio”. We strive to fulfill our mission to bring more aspiring women into the STEM field. ChickTech OC prides itself in programming useful workshops and meaningful events through actively listening to our members and event attendees.
